I’m Canadian and purchased my Mavic 4 pro on June 16th and the RC Pro 2 controller the same date, the Creator kit was not available at the time. Everything worked awesome until three days ago when I started having gimbal problems glitching and lagging. At first, I thought maybe my Lexar Gold micro-SD had failed, (U3 – V6 -A1 – 128 GB) so I switched it out to a SanDisk Extreme Pro U3 – A2 - V- 30 – X1 – 128 GB, same issue. I then tried a brand-new Lexar Gold micro-SD card same problem. I checked to see if my SD card was formatted to exFAT again as recommended by DJI I decided to check out my MacBook Pro M3 MAX 64 GB RAM. I cleared all the cashes and deleted about 4,000 e-mails and transferred files to and external hard drive to free up some space on my internal hard drive and had the same issue when I played the video on my MacBook 13 inch two-year-old laptop. I recorded both on the Micro sd card and drone internal hard drive and it made no change; I still had the same issue. I then recorder in 4K and 6K at 24, 30 fps and 60 fps, no change. I recalibrated the gimbal setting several times and checked my gain & expo tuning and flew the drone in Cini, normal & sport mode, no change. I checked that the Fly App is up to date, it is. Finally, I cleaned the surface of the gimbal and the seal at the back of the gimbal attached to the body of the housing, they were clean. So, my final thought was to see if the problem could be fixed with CapCut Pro and Final Cut Pro by stabilizing the video, no luck so I shot a video on my Pocket 3 6K 60 fps with no playback or editing issues.

I don’t think that the gimbal was damaged by me when I removed or put on the gimbal cover as I think it would be easy to do so given how cumbersome the gimbal cover is to use. I hope that someone will make a better gimbal cover soon. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I may call DJI tomorrow and see f they have any idea what the problem is. Thanks

recent FW 0200 and about how many flights?
FW is an abbreviation for “firmware”. Probably the “0200” is the most recent firmware available. That number can change any day based on what DJI finds that needs correction.

MAVIC 4 PRO GIMBAL ISSUE

Problem or minor problem. I didn't go too deep into the adjustment (calibration is a check, which in the profession does not mean adjustment!!!). The image lag on the RC 2 was visible, after turning off the drone and controller and turning it on, the image lag calmed down. I managed to take a few shots at 2100m above sea level, where all the shots are flawless. I haven't noticed the image lag since then.
What I guess. I won't give opinions again.

Get a case that the drone fits into and throw the gimble cover away. I don't actually throw mine away in the event I'd want to sell it but after I took off my gimble cover it never went back on. I just put it back safely into my hard shell case.

Took me a while to get the new gimbal protector back on the first few times, too, but it gets easier each time, as you learn the unique process, like with most of the DJI gimbal protectors. It was a lot easier on the original Mavic 3 with the gimbal that automatically locked into a horizontal position upon powering off.

The first step is therefore to hold the gimbal into a horizontal position with one hand, while sliding the front of the cover in the other hand over the round hinges on each side and into the cut outs on each side of the bra. Once that is done successfully, everything else will fall into place. It really secures everything so you can confidently push it into place in a soft case, without concern of catching on anything that might otherwise get damaged, like the motors and the prop tips. If you somehow manage to carelessly drop it with the gimbal protector on, no damage will occur to the fragile gimbal.

What I'm interested in is how much force the protection is pressing on the camera or gimbal and if at all? I believe (OK I hope in DJI :) ) that the gimbal is relaxed in the protection. I haven't yet convinced myself about the installation of "holding arms" and three cameras, but I will. I'm a demanding customer, so they say, and I'm not worried about it!!!

My belief is no force at all upon them, once properly secured. The cameras and gimbal are stabilized and held in place, to insulate them from sudden impacts, and subsequent exterior forces upon the protecting gimbal guard. The biggest concern is any force used by the operator to get the entire assembly safely into the gimbal guard. That's where practice comes in.

The two sides of the gimbal that slide into the gimbal guard are the neutral support points that insulate the camera and gimbal from exterior forces.

Reading your post carefully, this does not sound like a problem with the gimbal, what you desribed seems to be related to lag and 'jitter' in the video playback (or the recording of the video in the first place).

What video codec are you using? H264, H265, or that new (w)al-eye codec? Lots of things can cause drone footage to stutter, lag or jitter during playback, from the H265 codec putting too much of a strain on limited system resources to mastering 30 and 60fps footage to a 24/25fps timeline.

You might consider trying a microSD card with a guaranteed write rate above 100mbps as buffering can also cause similar problems.

I'm not sure what you mean by "glitching and lagging". Could you explain that in more detail? if it is "judder"... the film being jerky on playback, that is most often due to shooting at 24 or 25fps instead of 30fps because our monitors operate (typically) on 60hz or a multiple thereof but "glitching and lagging" doesn't quite sound like that.

Thank you for your reply. I contacted DJI today and they are going to review the problem when I send them a video clip for them to review for problem(s). Cheers
