I am fine with battery life on my Mavic 3 Pro, I just want the ability to stitch square and rectangle images with the longer cameras in air and to have corners as sharp as possible. It's been over a year since I updated FW on it, maybe the former is a feature now?

Nothing ... the Mavic 3 worked just fine at launch.
But a little later DJI updated it adding a few features and one of them was botched causing Mavic 3s to take a long time to acquire GPS.
The strange thing was that DJI didn't immediately roll back the thing that was causing the problem and took a few months to fix it.
The Mavic 3 launched with a bunch of missing features and DJI finally promised to provide them several months in the future with a software update. This was a big deal at the time because many of these features we consider key to using and paying for a flagship drone. We didn't know for sure if we were going to get waypoints. Still, this wasn't as big a deal as the GPS issue which alone was horrendous. Those who lived thru the debacle can tell you how ridiculous it was waiting 15+ minutes for GPS lock to the possibility of different hardware to solve the issue to multiple sw updates to get it right. The Mavic 3 was super late to launch, we don't know for sure why, but there was a chip shortage that impacted the entire industry at the time.
Many of us lived through the experience and would give that launch a C- and no one at DJI should be proud of the way that drone launched; let's hope the Mavic 4 doesn't come anywhere near this seeing they appear to have time to get it right. Some folks will come out and give DJI a pass and claim the Mavic 3 was fine at Nov launch but that's in hindsight after all the DJI denials, the super long GPS locks, the threats to rollout new hardware, late firmware updates that still didn't work even 6 months later. We didn't even have the proper packages/bundles available.
Discussion threads exceeded 50 pages in some forums and I'm sure DJI had to battle with tons of returns and warranty claims and it was probably such a total loss they gave up on that model and focused on the Mavic 3 Pro which has been stellar A+.
That's because it was fine at launch.
DJI advised of the "missing" features well before time so that was no surprise.
The only issue was their botched implementation of Beidou GPS, that took much longer to fix than it should have.
As far as features are concerned, it's all about perception and expectations. Personally, I was shocked as were so many others. Some people loved it because they fly drones as if they were piloting an RC and that's enough for them. DJI mentioned as few features but not all. Like I said, DJI can get away with this only once.....launching without features and other things and promising them at some future date (or not) is weak and I hope they don't do this on Mavic 4 because, frankly it's a bit unprofessional and it exacerbated the GPS disaster.

Anyone who bought the Mavic 3 early knew that some features would be added later by updates.
There was no nasty surprise after buying.
They probably brought it to market early to catch the Christmas buying.
If you didn't need the frills immediately, it was still a fine drone.
I don't think I've used those frills even now.
It was unfortunate that they screwed things up with the GPS issue and took way longer to fix it than anyone expected.
I remember the dreaded connection issues, I also had these problems with the Mavic 3 when it was first released, standing outside waiting ages for Sat connections was horrendous. Had the drone for some time and DJI were very slow to implement anything or if I remember acknowledge the actual issue!
I ended up sending the Drone back to Amazon UK after a very long call to their CS Team, as it wasn’t ’fit for purpose’ (under UK Consumer Law) and not working as it should! I eventually received a full refund (thank goodness)
Fast forward a year and I purchased the Classic ensuring the issues were still not present (ended up being a fantastic drone) Although a few weeks later the UK CAA decided to throw a spanner in the works and decided they were going to implement their own new Class rules…which made the C marking on this drone redundant! Quite a few Mavic drone users were angry at this after spending a lot of money.
I would have considered the Mavic 4 Classic if it was being released in May, but presume they will only release the Pro versions and have to wait a year, which is why I’m considering buying the Air3S.

they released it with a number of issue, mainly the gps lock issue, and the lack of features until much later at release.
It why i bought it and returned it personally and ended up just waiting for the air 3.
May have to end up doing the same thing with the air4 as I'm in the US....
My largest reason for upgrading from a Mavic 3 Pro to a 4 Pro would be largely enhanced pictures and that can only be accomplished through better lenses and/or sensors. Since I don't see significant changes in the 4, I just bought a couple more batteries for the 3 instead. Maybe when a Pro 5 is introduced, assuming I'm still around and tariffs have been removed.
All speculations at this point. I get that people need to plan for upgrade but....Assumptions are not good to base any planing on. I'd say have the funds ready if you are considering buing the M4P then wait for the first reviews when it is out. Then get a few DNG samples, process them yourself and make your decision based on facts you see with your own eyes. That's exactly what I am going to do

Doubtful. The RC Pro only supports O3+ for video transmission, while the M4P is supposed to use O4+.

I’m not a professional drone photographer, the Air 3s does quality video which is what I primarily want the drone for.
