MAVIC 4 PRO - TEST - Freewell Mist Filter 1/4 - Is It Worth It? (True HDR10, 6K)

Gave the Freewell 1/4 mist filter a second try during golden hour.
Honestly, I don’t notice much of a change... it pretty much looks like I shot it without a filter. Maybe the 1/8 would do a better job, or maybe it’s best with no filter at all. Same thought I had in the last video...
Anyway, I’ll run the test again soon without any filter to get a proper comparison.

Bummer to hear that,
I probably pushed it too far since this was shot a good half hour before sunrise... Just curious, does the whole video look that way to you, or only at the start? On my monitor and phone it looks fine.
Either way, I really appreciate the feedback!

The entire video is too dark to enjoy (IMHO)

Thanks. I just checked on my wife's phone, and it's also dark on hers, while on my phone it looks correct… and I use the same preset in Adobe Media Encoder every time.

All comments are correct but to your question, IMO a mist filter has little value and not worth all the fiddling around attaching/detaching. Lightroom has amazing tools and Dehaize is one of them. Make sure you shoot raw and LR will do wonders in post.

Yeah, I’m with you on that, thanks for sharing your opinion!
I’ve realized the mist filter doesn’t really add much value for me either.
I edit in Adobe Premiere 2025 since it lets me export straight to HDR10, and YouTube picks it up right away and shows the HDR tag next to the resolution, which I really like.
