Mavic Air 1 After-Market Extra-Capacity Battery. Has anyone tried it yet?

BIG QUESTION - If one connects power between first 4 pins and last 4 pins on drone - WILL IT FLY?? (probably not...) - MAVIC AIR 1
If I suspected an electronics experiment might cost me my drone in a puff of smoke, I'd probably shelve the idea of conducting that experiment. Speaking of Mavic Air 1 battery upgrades, Ali Express now offers TWO versions for the Mavic Air 1. The $65 after-market extra capacity battery boosts the battery capacity from 2375 mAh to 3500 mAH, which translates to a flight time increment from the piddling 15 minutes to a much better 22 minutes,

The slightly higher capacity battery is rated at 3580 mAh and promises a flight time of 23 minutes for the lowly Mavic Air 1, but at a steeper cost of $117 for that additional 2-minute flight duration increment in comparison to the $65 battery whose link is above.

For me, paying nearly twice the cost of the $65 battery for a mere 2 minutes of additional flight time is not worth the $117 price tag. Needless to say, I am buying a few of the $65 batteries to breathe new life into my old Mavic 1 Airs.

I am in no way affiliated with Ali Express, but their website search function often fails to yield the desired results, so I went ahead and posted the links here for any fellow Mavic Air 1 owners who would like to fly their drone for 21 minutes on a single charge, rather than the 15 minutes that the stock battery allows.

I have never received the battery that I ordered and paid for. It seems to have been a scam and somebody has my money.

With my poor memory, I forgot that someone on this forum mentioned getting scammed by Ali Express. Dang, now you've got me worried because I am awaiting shipment on two of the Mavic 1 Pro larger capacity batteries that cost $74 a pop that I bought from Ali Express.

I bought and received four Ali Express batteries for my Mavic 1 Pro and Mavic 2 Pro, and those batteries do work as advertised, making possible round-trip Litchi waypoint missions over 13 miles long at 27 mph out here in the boonies. Ali Express sellers haven't scammed me yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and monitoring the tracking on this latest purchase of two batteries.

ouch so no one's actually seen that "improved" Mavic Air battery ?

By the end of this month, I'll have an Ali Express extra range battery to test for range and longevity.

Have no fear, Young Grasshopper. Clarity will arise from the cross-currents of uncertainty, like a levitating mist from a mountain lake's glassy surface at dawn.

And then it became silent .... Hi guys! Just opened my case with my MA1 after lying on the shelf since 2018. Used it once for making a video from my house and property. Charging my original battery, now flashing at 2 leds... Interesting.

What ever happened to the Aliexpress battery testing? Nice to see an update/followup on that.

I bought several Ali Express non-DJI batteries for my Air 1, Mavic 2 Pro, and Mavic 1 Pro in two separate purchases spread out over a couple of years. Those batteries dramatically increase the range of both Mavics from 6 miles round trip, flown at 27 mph, to over 13 miles round trip, BUT there is one caveat.

On my second purchase of several such batteries, I discovered that out of 7 non-DJI batteries shipped to me, I found TWO that would not take a charge. Because I live way out in the boonies in the Third World, where the postal system is not reliable, I didn't bother trying to post the dud batteries back to Ali Express to seek a refund, but even more unsettling, I could not find any means of getting in touch with the seller of those batteries to lodge a product failure complaint.

In summary, there is an off chance that you might wind up with a dud battery when you order from Ali Express, but if you are a gambling man like me, then you won't mind rolling the dice and buying non-DJI batteries from Ali Express anyway, because they do make possible TWICE the flight time than do the stock DJI batteries for those older DJI drones. The batteries that did work fine on arrival are still going strong, so I have no regrets having bought them, and will likely do so again in the future, all things considered.

Just have to try this ... Thanks for swift reply! Gonna do a hoover test first with my old battery.

My battery never came, after a series of attempts to track it down ending in gibberish and follow the link and fill out the form circular dead ends somebody told me it was too late to file for a refund and subsequently dissapeared. I sent some nasty comments to their site and got the response "OK" ..whatever

This is alarming to learn about, and will certainly make me reconsider making any future purchases from Ali Express.
