Mavic Air DJI Go4 and Ipad mini 4

Hi all,

I can fly my Mavic Air with my Samsung phone no problem. When I connect to my Ipad gen 4 it refuses to setup. Goes through steps 1-4. Unfold. Turn on Drone then o. Then connect the cable to RC the Ipad. At this point it just hangs up. I tried everything and what finally sort of worked was starting on page 1, clicking on menu top right I could scan the QR code on the drone. That put me into flying mode which though clumsy as I had to do it everytime, it did not allow me to use the joysticks on the controller. Had to use the virtual joysticks on the Ipad. Less then ideal.
Ok. Checked all firmawre was up to date. Yep. Deleted the app and reinstalled. YIKES> Now there is no scan qr code access and I can't synch with the drone either. This is actually worse.
I'd like to use the controller joysticks and the Ipad's screen as it is much easier to see info. Can anyone help? I've been looking everywhere for an answer.

Hi. I have been using my air 1 with iPad mini 4 without any issue since 2018. But, stopped updating a long time ago. Everything works OK.

New Guy here, purchased an Air Gen1- Im hoping not to have any issues with it. purchased used off the eBay, owner was very informative about owning it. no issues when he last used it, but it hasnt flown in a couple of years. Last he knew it worked on his iphone..... I run and iphone too. hoping i dont need a separate new cell line if DJI Go4 wont work.
Any info update..
Surprised there isnt a dedicated MAV Air G1 forum.
