Mavic Deliveries - UK

Which foldable helipads did you buy? Unless you are flying from flat, clean tarmac the Mavic needs a launch pad. Catching the Mavic is actually quite easy - but I found I needed something to launch from.

I actually baught 2, one larger and one small to hopefully fit in the little mavic bag

Large:
CI Foldable Mini Landing Helipad for DJI Phantom 2/3/4 Inspire Mavic Pro Drone | eBay

And the smaller one:

What was your gimbal doing exactly?
I'm sorry, i've paid a lot of money for this drone, i want it all to be in focus haha.
Is your s a replacement case or an RMA?

When you start up the Mavic the gimbal does a few spins and turns - I guess to make sure its operating freely. Then it rights itself the correct way and everything is peachy!

Except mine did a few spins, a few clunks and turns and ends up at a weird angle with gimbal error warnings. Occasionally I could tweak it in to position but that got harder and harder.

I'm hoping to hear back from DJI any day now about the issue and the next steps.

So the Mavic I ordered from Maplins was faulty :( Sad days, had it for 12 days and it's already on its way to DJI in Netherlands for a replacement, let's hope i don't have to wait as long as i did for the first one.
Please test your drones fully, i had bad out of focus issues on the bottom right and just yesterday starting getting Jello on my videos.
Hi mate,

can you explain more details of your video getting "jello"? Can you post an example somewhere? say to either youtube or a link to wetransfer so that we can see and relate to it?

thanks

I have that as well but it slowly goes back into position, just taking its time. No gimbal error message though

I'll upload one tonight for you mate, at work at the moment.

Just wanted to say thanks to the guys who first started talking about Maplins availability in the UK. I ordered mine on the 22nd Dec, it's now in my kitchen charging up, ready for its first flight. I'm a bit gutted that my Heliguy order from Oct 8th hasn't been fulfilled (still at 160 on the list), but I took the chance on Maplins due to my imminent holiday this Friday and wanting to take the Mavic with me.

Glad you got yours in time for your holiday - enjoy!

I just contact Heliguy today and got this response.

Happy New Year to you too. I have received 35 units the last 2 weeks (more than the last 3 months combined!) Total 55 Mavics so far. Trouble is I have 10 times the pre-order list of my competitors. There is a reason why we receive more pre-orders and this is our service and support.

I would love to keep hold of everyone, and I am starting to receive calls from those crashing them after buying elsewhere. Its bloody frustrating as DJI have messed the shipping procedure up prioritising the likes of Maplins. They are not specialist and will not be able to support you but They have received the lions share so far. We have not done too bad ourselves. With 55 received this would have fulfilled Maplins list of 41 (highest list they had at one point). It is a law unto itself as I have had more Phantom 4 Pros and Inspire 2 units shipped than my competition.

The choice is yours, it will be a wait longer, potentially February for you, if you cannot wait then I cannot stop you.

My order was on the 2nd Nov and they are now predicting a Feb delivery :-(

They are right about service and support - HeliGuy can repair drones. How much they can repair a Mavic I'm not sure - its so tiny and carefully formed I'm not sure how much HeliGuy can do.

Sounds like more and more Mavics are being sent to dealers - so you may want to wait till beginning of Feb to see if HeliGuy can deliver. Mavics seemed to have had more hardware issues than the DJI Phantom 3 and 4. So good customer service is definitely important with Mavics.

I would've rather stuck with Heliguy, but my holiday forced my hand. That being said, I haven't cancelled the order. I'm probably gonna keep that live and then sell this one secondhand when Heliguy comes through. I've no idea what Maplins customer support is like, but they haven't messed me around so far and when I rang to order mine they were very forthcoming with information about deliveries and how far down the list I was.

Was a cold day but doesn't warrant that sort of jello.
Glad I've sent it back. Hope my replacement is better

Yes I agree - that's why I went t them originally.

Sounds like more and more Mavics are being sent to dealers .

Apparently the dealers (Helliguy and others) have been moaning to DJI about supplying the lion's share to box-shifters, and they have been assured that less deliveries will be going to the likes of Maplin and more to the back-orders at specialists.

That could just be sales speak to make me hang on, but Scott at Helligut actually phoned me on my mobile to update me. Good customer service so far

Batteries in the UK - anybody know where I might get extra batteries and chargers in the UK?

CVP had some this morning but I dithered too long before ordering and I missed them!!!

Anybody tried ordering direct the DJI?

Thanks

That is bad jello - I could see it even without viewing full screen. Sending it back was definitely the right thing!

So as of about 10 minutes ago my Very.co.uk flyless wasn't showing any change. It still says by Jan 16th apparently checked every day.
.....then I have JUST received an e-mail saying "Sorry but the Mavic is sold out". It suggests the flymore as an alternative. The link takes me to some ladies leggings :s

The order is still in my account so I don't know whats going on!
