It actually sounds useful, but it's probably not recommended to mess with the motors?
And since you have to remove the props it also breaks the thread-lock when you remove the screws.

it is possibly to affect the cooling, and will raise the weight a little bit

The top of the motors are open on all other DJI drones -- and they seem to be getting along just fine.

I bought some to try out. I don't think they really serve a purpose other than they look cool. At least I think they do. They do have small hole vents at the top. They just lay on top of the motors. There is no adhesive so it lets the heat dissipate. And yes I fly with prop guards on because I live in the heart of Beijing China and the entire city 30km is a NFZ. Luckily I live in a high rise and there is no GPS signal, hence I only can fly indoors.
