Thank you..Because it doesn't use WiFi when connected to your phone via a usb or Lightning cable.
This assumes you flick the physical switch on the craft to the lightbridge mode (Ocu-Sync) so it links directly to the RC instead of the phone. I just wanted this to be clear for the newbies out there. The Mavic can be flown via W-Fi with a mobile device. When using the remote controller to fly, it can fly further since it's able to use OcuSync then.
I understand the Mavic can fly using controllers wifi for short distance, but why does the range increase when having you phone connected?
Thank you!Another quick warning around using Wi-Fi.
If you are connected with Wi-Fi in an area that you have been previously connected to another Wi-Fi network, if you drop the Mavic's signal you will likely pickup the second network and not reconnect to the Mavic. Aka you have to close the DJI GO app and switch the Wi-Fi back to the Mavic or it will go into whatever disconnect behavior you have setup. Highly recommend choosing your lost connection behavior carefully because you will not be able to guide the Mavic home if the home location isn't set correctly.
On Android you can use Apps like "WiFi Priotity" to give the Mavic highest Priority.Another quick warning around using Wi-Fi.
