Just curious.... I have found the pause button to be VERY useful. I wonder if it could have stopped the loss of control and 'fly away' in this case? I also agree the loss of manual ATTI control is a mistake.

Probably not since the drone would be using its normal flight controls to attempt to hold position but the yaw error would still be having its effect and telling the flight controller that the drone was changing its orientation.
The drone would make corrections to stop this and the problem would still be there.

I thought it only works if you return the drone (which he can’t do) or are you talking about a State Farm insurance? They will cover lost?

Yes, most insurance agencies will cover flyaways and lost drones. Mine only cost $50/ year through country ($5 for every $100 the product is worth) with no deductible.
