Mavic2 Battery Mods

Electrically that should be the same. Do you see any form of current sensing on the ESC board?

Try wiring direct to the Mosfets for the next test. If done correctly you'll get missing prop errors in flight.

Note: if you try this mod, there is a thin layer of clear coat over the test points that you need to scrape off. Also, not a bad idea to scrape up the test point area a little bit to give the solder something to grab on to. Luckily, when you screw down the ESC and main board, the 2 wires are wedged in nice and tight and you shouldn't have to worry about mechanical dislodging of the solder points from wire stress from external tugging after you carefully put her back together.

I will happily try this once you show me where that solder point is :)

I did these tests yesterday and I had some hope after so I decided to wait and try the test again in cooler weather!:)
Brand new Mavic 2 Zoom. I didn't do any updates (only activated)
Tested using 2x MS 4000mah LiHV
First Hover Test - 3m34s - Temp outside 64f
Second Hover Test - 2m53s - Temp outside 68f

I did this test this morning (brand new Mavic 2) to see if maybe in colder weather it would fair better:mad:
Third Hover Test - 0m35s - Temp outside 55f

One thing I did discover is that you can press the "Red X" and it will cancel the auto_landing. However, it will just activate the auto_landing again and again until you land!

Do you have a safe space to go fly? Maybe big ovals or back and forth over a mile or so where you can drive or walk if it does land?

We already know that the M2 is capable of flying 38k feet with just a stock battery compared to the MP1 which only could fly 28K. So I don't believe we need to have the same amount of external battery mAh as we needed with the MP1. I was able to fly 52K with a MP1with 2 Proteks 3600(7200mAh), so I would be surprised if the M2 couldn't do the same with 5500 to 6000mAh of external battery. When I get some time and the weather is decent I'm going to do a distance flight single Protek 4200. the AUW should be about 1230g.

Wh wise the distance increase is in the ballpark, but given that that M2 is 22% heavier, it has much better efficiency than the M1. I'm going to try a single TP4500 (~300g) on mine first.

Hopefully the M2 .DAT files will become useable one day.

I have been thinking the same thing. I have a MS 5.2 LiHV that will let me run down a whole battery in hover without the autoland (AUW 1445). I've got my bird modded and I am going to run it out, hopefully this weekend, and see what happens!

After the 3rd attempt practicing and switching to 0.016 brass, I think I got this figured out. Gonna dunk this in some clear epoxy now...

BTW - You think the UAVMODs guys are over charging, but until you do this yourself, their prices seem very reasonable to me now :)

If they sold XT30 versions, I would have bought from them if doing this over.

Mark, what is the weight of the MS 5200? 1445 AUW (makes the battery about 525g). Seems a little bit high for a 5200mAh battery. I believe Bean’s Protek 5600 weigh 455g and 2 MS4000 weigh 668g.

Got my new M2 today and did an initial flight test with this config:

All factory
+1 battery clip
+1 M2 factory battery cell

No errors or other strange behavior (in 17 mph sustained winds).

I was ready to test with +2 factory battery cells but the wind came in and stayed at 25+ mph. I called it a day but will try a hover test tonight.

uggggg... just tried a flight on my new M2 at AUW 1443. I took straight off and flew out and up (not a hover test) and auto landing kicked in under 10 seconds.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!

What was the battery temp? I just had this happen on an M1 with a cold battery. Flying forward and up draws the most current.
