Mini 3 Extended Battery

I guess some distrust with the authorities maybe ... don't know.
Anyway, enjoy your extended flight time in this lovely bird! :)
There's that. It is the government and they are here to help!

I was thinking of just flying less than 250 grams with the light battery. But being part 107 and a manned pilot among other things I figure they already know my number.

Plus the longer flight time intrigued me about the mini 3.

They definitely do.
As I only do stills, I've somehow got used to about 20 mins of flying before changing the battery if I cannot achieve or find other interesting spots nearby. So now I have about 25 mins which is fine too but I mostly wouldn't need 35 mins really. Wouldn't harm but staying below 250 g is important in EASA.

But I definitely see the advantages for longer periods of flying with Hyperlapse, etc.
So, I really like how DJI approached the problem and somehow solved it neatly for everybody's liking and countries ruling.

Well, that's what I was thinking, the smaller batteries are actually better if you're planning on travelling with your drone. The bigger batteries are more suitable for those who are planning on flying in the US. I guess I'm going with the basic fly more kit.

Registering rather than paying 5 USD seems to be the bigger problem if I follow some YT videos strangely. 😂

IIRC there are different flying rules for "under 249grams" in the US (like pertaining to flying over people). Maybe I am remembering wrong. Also, there are those who just buy these things for "fun flying" and "backyard flying" and "neighborhood buzzing" and really don't care if they have to change batteries 5 or 10 minutes sooner and for other people the LESS information the government has on them the better and registering puts ones name in yet another fed list. Too late for me though, I registered it anyway. No idea why, just did.

Maybe I am remembering right??
Category 1 small unmanned aircraft are permitted to operate over people, provided the small unmanned aircraft: Weigh 0.55 pounds [249 grams] or less including everything that is on board or otherwise attached to the aircraft at the time of takeoff and throughout the duration of each operation.

If you live an fly in North America, the only difference is if you go above 250G you have to pay the five bucks and register with the FAA, that's it. Not a big deal. As stated above, outside North America it is more of an issue with the 250G limit.
No. If you buy this battery and fly in Canada it will be treated the same as if you were flying an inspire. If you are coming from the States you will need to apply for a special flight operations certificate.

If i bought this battery I wouldn't be able to do about 95 percent of my photography since it is almost all high rise construction in the high density greater Toronto area. Some of the projects I do requires altitudes more than 250m in urban areas.

Ok, so I guess Canada is like the EU then, I guess it makes sense.
