Mini 3 pro - faulty RC??

I have yesterday taken delivery of my new Mini 3 Pro and RC controller. Every time I turn on the units, the screen tells me to turn off the drone and perform an RC "calibration." The problem is that it takes several attempts to do so and the right stick can only be done with the stick out as when pushed left it only goes up to around 80 percent. This is happening every time I switch on.
This cannot be right, has anyone else experienced this?
I fear I have a defective RC unit and fear I am going to have to return the package for replacement??

I was having a similar issue with my M2 P while trying to recalibrate the sticks. Then I realized it wanted me to move all the sticks as described in the tutorial, nut I also had to move the wheel 100% travel to finish the calibration.

push all sticks to all extremes in all directions, wheels included. Not wildly, but calm and uniform movements. If issues persist afterwards, return it.

I got my Mini 3 Pro today with the Smart Controller, and was able to fly the craft without any calibration being required....I did do the recent firmware update before flying....
