My 72 Year old DAD Flying FPV

Think that's dad !!
Reckon Roy is flying, probably using the phone device to do so.

Nice stream and waterfall feature too.
You Reckoned right my friend ! The goggles are great to let others use while you fly. My kids pretend they are birds , Planes or in my 4 year old's case a Rocket . Everything with that boy is Rockets. Gonna be an astronaut one day n fly to the moon :)

Thanks for noticing the water feature and not the leaf filled gutters . lol I got that one covered in a different video

I love using the goggles to take people on rides! So wonderful that you are able to do this for your dad.

Ah the water feature is a clever diversion hey ? Lol.

That was my first experience with the standard goggles, a fellow forumite in Brisbane I met up with for a fly when there a couple of trips ago.
Was pretty cool, used the gimbal head tracking, and enjoyed the flight . . . though I might have been better sitting, was swaying a bit !! Ha ha.

So am I correct that there's no Google equivalent thing for the Mavic Mini yet?

Think that's right Doug, but who knows, DJI might be able to work that in on future updates.
MAkes sense as the nimbleness and size of the mini, coupled to not having to worry about turning OA off, it'd be a good FPV drone for easier moderate flying, none of that racing or acrobatics !! But good for tight places.

Does the non-goggle wearer still use a phone/iPad/etc. connected to the controller?

Yes, or you can just fly wiht controller VLOS.
With M1P, MPP, M2P, M2Z, occusync connects drone to goggles.

I use USB-A to connect controller to normal viewing device.
Even if I am flying solo and using the goggles, the ipad is good to have there anyway if I feel the need to abandon goggles for any reason.

I'm still learning and not quite trusting goggles alone for take off or landing, usually just lift the goggles for those actions and flip them down to fly.

Not sure about Air, think it'll be like my Spark, you can use either normal device or goggles, not both.

I'm sorry, but couldn't help this picture in my head: Your father dressed like superman, flying around with goggles on.

But serious, happy for your dad that he can have this fun after his stroke. Hope he (and all of your family) can enjoy this for a long time!

Had my 75 a few days back. Still enjoy flying my Mavic. Unfortunately I to can no longer pass the medical for my PPL

Great!

It's been a strange feeling having to have my cardiologist sign off on my driver's license renewal. I stopped flying manned aircraft a while back due to heart issues. It is what it is and you try to find other things that will keep you occupied, stimulate your senses and challenge you to keep learn.

All the best to your dad and hope he'll enjoy many more hours of this new form of flying.
