NEO Crash Help

Yesterday, I went to the same location I had the yaw error. I placed the NEO on my folded up landing pad that was located on the ice just out from the beach and checked the direction of the AC on the map and noticed that it was facing opposite the actual orientation of the NEO. I shut down and moved down the ice a bit and the same thing. I did not take off so there is no log to upload. I did not have my rechargeable handwarmers and there were no other source of magnets nearby. The only thing I can think of is there was some sort of magnetic disturbance under the ice. In that location the water would have been only a few centimetres deep.

Did you calibrate the compass?

It’s not in the manual but DJI says it works on neo too

I have rarely ever calibrated the compass on any of my drones. I had flown the NEO the day before in a different location without any problems. The location that gave me problems is one I have flown from hundreds of times with all my drones but usually from the beach (when there is no ice) or out much further on the ice.

I am beginning to wonder if the problem I had with my yaw error was due to something under the ice in the water at the edge of the beach. Seems like too much of a coincidence that both times the compass was deflected 180 degrees.

may be you can test it with your smart phone/ bring a traditional compass there....
