Hm. Looks like nothing DJI has produced, ever. The only thing it faintly reminds me of is the RoboMaster S1. Maybe they will branch off into land vehicles, but I doubt it. What does everyone else think?
Perhaps they aren't totally optimistic their lawyers can't ensure (working with regulators) the hobby grade toys wont be legislated out of existence in the near future. The hand held camera makes sense (the Ronin has done well) but cars seem to be a significant departure from the core business.
Did anyone get the chance to read the comments on the article? One person suggested that a tracked vehicle would be able to traverse rough terrain much better than a wheeled one. Also, it's harder to get stuck if you have tracks.
Seems like a reasonable expansion of DJI’s business. It would leverage a lot of the drone technology like cameras, GPS navigation, pitch angles and stability, etc. It looks like it could be fun as well as useful for search and rescue and exploring dangerous environments.
