I used to fly my Mavic with my Grandsons wearing a pair of original DJI goggles so they could see what the drone was shooting with me controlling it independently on my Iphone/controller.

I have completely gone over to flying the Mini 4 pro, due to the convenience of flying sub 250g drones in the UK

I was disappointed that I could not use goggles in a similar set up.

I was therefore hopefully anticipating when DJI brought out the goggles 3 and its compatibility with the Mini 4 pro.

However, if I have this correct, if using the googles, even without the motion controller, then the view on the RC2 blanks in favour of the goggles eyepieces.

This is useless to me, I want to be able to have the same set up as I used to have on the Mavic set up with me completely controlling the Min 4 pro from the RC2 and the Grandsons being able to wear the goggles and view the Drones view of the flight.

I don't know if this sort of set up would benefit any other drone flyers, but if so then like me it is another DJI disappointment!

I'm surprised DJI didn't give the option to also view the screen while googles were connected. Perhaps they will add it later via firmware update ? Anyway, I wonder if something like these might help you ? - it seems they don't turn off the RC screen when connected !

I saw that video and I thought about buying the Viture XR glasses but after checking the reviews and the market, I'm finding too many for sale in the aftermarket for super cheap. It's almost like there's a lot of mediocre reviews and dissatisfaction for the results and people are disappointed. Perhaps why DJI hasn't done it because it's too plain and simple and doesn't work as well as you'd expect. Sounds like these glasses work better with a computer.

This is completely doable.

The goggles 3 has a feature called Liveview Streaming. See p. 30 of the Goggles 3 manual.

With this feature you can stream the view from the goggles via wifi to a smartphone running DJI Fly.

Personally, I have been using the xReal Air 2 Pro glasses with both the RC2 with theMini 4 Pro and the RC Pro with the M3 Cine. I had both the Goggles 2 and Integra. Aside from operational issues using them they are really not very comfortable. The Glasses just plug into the USB-C port and mirror the display. They have variable darkening to the outside world, so you can see the drone when you do your takeoff and landing. They are very comfortable and far lighter. To be honest I upgraded to the Mini 4 Pro just so I could use the glasses with the RC2. The regular RC cold not do video out. Price is comparable.

Thanks for your replies guys, but to be fair, I am not after goggles or glasses that I can wear myself, I am quite happy to continue using the RC and staying 100% legal.
What I am after is the transmission to a completely separate pair of googles that a third party can wear, (my Grandsons in this case)
Anything that plugs into the RC2 would not fit the bill and would interfere with efficient control with the risk of tangled wires from movement etc.

You can try live streaming to one of the platforms and he can view on a tablet, but there will be a lag. I tried using an HDMI wireless dongle. It worked for a while then an update on Apple's iOS made it not work anymore. Currently, you have to have something plugged into a controller to get wireless, meaning an air gap from whatever you plugged in to what receive the feed. So some kind of dongle. Personally, I let folks view with the glasses, since the USB cable is quite thin and you really should be sitting using the goggles or glasses. Oh you can stand, but you can become a bit unsteady at times. Rather like an amusement park ride.

I gave up a the kids viewing. I just gave my grandkids one of those $30 drones. Thank god they are durable. They are much happier. I really mainly use the second viewer while using the drones for work. Geologist thing, the other viewer sees what you do not because your flying.

You can use the RC2 USB-C port for that, it's actually quite simple.

The RC2 USB-C port has HDMI and Display Port signals included, so if you plug the other side of the cable to a USB-C display or AR glasses (I have Rokid Max and it works quite well).

In case you don't have a display with a USB-C input port, just buy a USB-C to HDMI converter. This way, you will be able to watch the image in any HDMI monitor or even in your TV.

I've been asking that same question for a long time, except Goggles would be worn by my wife and I will be using I pad mini. Still haven't got a 100% answer to it (mini 4 and Goggles 3). Didn't think that in 2024, it's so difficult?

Again, this can be done with goggles 3 connected to the drone, using the Live View feature to stream the goggles view over wifi to a smartphone or tablet running DJI Fly.

The "passenger" wears the goggles, pilot uses the Live View to fly.

Ok. Thank you. I see that after downloading the manual. Do you have any experience wearing them for a while? Would you describe the clarity that you see while flying as almost 10K as far as pixel quality?

I don't use the Goggles 3 with the M4P. I use them with the Avata 2, and have dozens of hours on them.

Comfort
They're the most comfortable goggles I've ever had from DJI. My collection includes the ancient white goggles, Goggles v2, Integra, and Goggles 3.

Image Quality
Can't comment on your 10K question, don't know what you mean. The image is sharp, 1080p, with excellent contrast, color, and dynamic range.

Given the camera on the M4P I would expect excellent results.

I have used Live View for an audience with the Avata 2 streaming the view from the goggles 3 to an Android tablet. Worked flawlessly.

If cost isn't an issue, get two sets and stream one goggles 3 to the other, so both pilot and passenger can be FPV.

Head Tracking
Another "thing" to do is fly in the first arrangement, passenger wearing goggles, pilot flies VLOS, mainly by direct view of the drone, camera view on tablet/phone as an aid. Turn on head-tracking, and your passenger can "look around" while you fly.

This is a little tricky because the drone will fly a course direction based on your control input, but head tracking will yaw left and right (without turning!) with head movement looking that way.

It's actually pretty cool, especially if you're an engineer / tech geek, but it's near impossible to fly FPV with head tracking anywhere complicated. Only good for flying up above everything and looking around.

Whoops. Sorry, I meant 1080p. Thank you again for all your input. I'm sure you helped many more people than just me about to pull the trigger on the Goggles/ Mini 4 Pro combo. At least you helped ME with what I'm going to order tomorrow! Again, thanks so much for your clear and concise reply.

I would at least wait one more day on Thursday where there is likely to be some movement at DJI regarding pricing and availability of new and current drones and accessories and packages. I heard there might even be some new goggles.

Got it. Thank you.
