Hi All,

After years of wishing I finally took the plunge and got myself my first real drone.

I have had many cheap sub $100 drones and helicopters for sometime but first big boy drone :)

While I have been really excited to get it, the excitement is settling quite rapidly seeing the airspace is very much restricted around NYC Metro area.

Looking forward to learning and sharing with you all!!

Regards,
coop

Welcome to Mavic Pilots .
I hope you will find our site helpful and look forward to any input , photo's/video's you might post .
Don't be shy and ask anything if you can't find it by searching .:)

Thanks everyone for kind and welcoming messages. Finding this forum quite helpful and addicting just like Mavic.

Lots of places to fly, enjoy

Where do you fly? So far the only drone friendly park I have found is in Corona, Queens.

Anyone from Nassau county here? I can’t find the county rules on their website or general google search.

There is a hobby airplane field in Port Washington but that can be quite boring to fly Mavic at the same spot.

I fly in Brooklyn, but I grew up on North Shore of Nassau and know it well.

If you are in Port Washington, I would suggest flying from some of the beaches (Bar Beach or Sands Point), over water (Manhasset Bay or Hempstead Harbor) on each coast so you don't have to worry too much about people.

If you can fly from a rooftop it is much better, you don't have to worry about nosy people bothering you, but I know this is not possible for a lot of people.

Here is an example of flying over water (in Brooklyn from my roof) in case you are nervous. Nothing to worry about over water.

I hear ya bro, the app has the ability to show warnings and prompts when flying in certain zones too that may help while in the air.

I am closer to Bar Beach park, will give it a try over the weekend.
