Hi im new to this and I have done all the youtube tutorials and I have set up everything as told. So I went out to fly and was all good , then it just took off towards the town. It is in beginners mode. I hit the panic button the emergency breaking which didn't stop it. I hit the hover but it seemed very delayed. Luckily it got to the furtherest point and said go home . It did this but then wanted to go again. So I managed to take control and reduce its height and bring it back and manual land on my lawn. whew friggen heat attack material right there. Any suggestions? please.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! We all wish first posts were a bit more on the positive side of things but it could have been worse. There are some questions that need answers to help you more.

Is this a new un-flown Mavic?
What Firmware is installed?
Did you get any warnings?
Can you post the flight log/record?

yes new un flown, did the firmware update before flying as recommended and to be honest I was just freaking out chasing it , luckily it got to its furtherest point and stopped, before saying going home. Im just going to have a look at logs if I can find them, can I view them without being connected to the controller. Found logs but how do I upload them to here.

It may be easier to upload the logs to a dropbox account or cloud drive that allows yo to share a link. You can also play and view the flight record on your device to see if you had any warnings that may have popped up that you may have missed while flying.

What panic button for stopping, what hover button??? Lost here, all you have do is let go of the sticks and it stops and hovers!! Find a big field, go out and fly around slow and get used to things. It's natural to be puckered up. Just relax, these are hard to crash and loose. Once you get used to flying around get a little bold, turn off beginner mode go a little further and even get out and manually hit the RTH button and watch to see what happens during the RTH. It's good to know. Be sure your RTH altitude is set right and not to high if you don't need it to be. Also, practice cancelling the RTH, so you can see how that works too. Sometimes when I'm out far and loose signal and it goes into RTH, I'll let it fly back into good signal space, then cancel RTH and take over flight from there. It's good to know how everything works and how to control it. There's so much to learn, just take your time relax, and have fun. You bought the best up until yesterday!! I'm still keeping my Platinum even when I get my new one!! I love these birds!!! Bolton

Also, really learn your smart RTH and how it works, especially learning how to understand the upper status bar slider that shows you remaining flight time and where it's going to go into smart RTH if you are a ways away!!

had many . forward obstacle sensing not functioning/ magnetic filed interference exit p-gps mode / cannot start return to home/ cannot return to home due to weak gps signal. repeated many times in the panicky 1015 mins in the air

we don't have any wide open spaces for 100 of ks around us but we have many clearings. when I say panic button I mean the emergency braking button. I did let go of the sticks but it did its own thing

Be sure you start up with no metal around. Did you calibrate the compass?? If you didn't get a GPS lock on startup, you won't have a RTH. Does it tell you you're in GPS mode?? Is the light in a slow green blink?? Or yellow?? Get it up in the air and don't go anywhere. Just fly around very close or just hover. Reset the home point so you know how that works, be sure the forward sensors are turned on. Also, the forward sensors will not work in low light, so don't try them at dusk or dawn.

There is no emergency braking button. Letting go of the forward stick does the braking.

You had a lot of errors, were any of these displayed before you started the motors?

Where are you??? Where there is no open spaces for 100 Km. You may be getting some serious interference.
south Australia on the river murray on acreage with no overhead wires, the only thing I can think of if what we have here called NBN internet which is wireless and we have square things on our rooves which point to a tower.

The pause button is for stopping RTH or an intelligent flight operation! Not forward speed
the pause button stop any type of movement or operation.

Well according to the manual , the button in question is a flight pause button -emergency . Number 6 on the diagram

Well you will all be glad to know that all is well. Spent the day googling issues and redoing up date, done the calibs and now have moved of off beginners mode after 2 hrs getting a feel for it. Thanks all for ya input. Now I am focusing on the camera which I have played with a bit. onwards and upwards.
