Last week, I bought my Mavic Pro Platinum from a DJI Authorised Reseller. The Seller told me that I should not try to update the firmware of my drone for a reason. Why is that so? What are the pros and cons of having an updated firmware?

One of the good things about the Mavic Pro is it's easy to downgrade the firmware if you upgrade and run into issues. If the firmware you're wanting to install has been out for a while, then you likely won't run into issues after upgrading. So, that's something to consider before installing recently released firmware.

The Mavic Pro Release Notes contain a list of major changes for each firmware release. You can check out those release notes to see if there are any new changes you'd like to take advantage of. In addition to what's listed there, there are usually undisclosed fixes/tweaks that make it into those updates. That's the primary reason I like to install them.

He told me that there are defects on the updates and it will change my flying experience.
