Hey everyone.

I wanted to share our press release concerning the the great news that there is no Countering CCP Drone Act language in the 2025 National Defence Authorization Act. We received the bill last night, and wanted to make sure everything was confirmed before we put out our press release this morning.

TLDR, no DJI ban in the bill. We won a huge battle, and still have work to do, but for now we can celebrate this victory.

A huge thanks to all who contacted their elected officials. Y'all made a difference!!!!!

"Subject: Breaking Drone News from DC

We have big news to share. You may already have seen online, but if not, the text of the 2025 NDAA was released by the House Rules Committee on Saturday. We are THRILLED to report that the Countering CCP Drones Act language did NOT make it into the final version of the bill! This would not have been possible without the incredible engagement of Drone Advocacy Alliance advocates like you throughout 2024. On behalf of the DAA Board of Directors, I want to say THANK YOU for your help along the way. Your efforts have been inspiring to say the least. Together, drone users like you took part in hundreds of Congressional meetings, sent thousands of customized grassroots messages, made phone calls, sent tweets, authored op-eds and really ensured that members of Congress and their staff were aware of the drastic consequences a bill like Countering CCP would have on the U.S. drone ecosystem. We appreciate all that you do for our cause.

Now that the NDAA text is public, we expect the U.S. House and Senate to work quickly to pass this final, compromise version this week. From there, we expect the President to quickly sign the bill into law, ending a long struggle to pass the NDAA (without the Countering CCP Drones Act 😊).

The final NDAA bill is not perfect, and does contain language that some of our opponents are claiming is the Countering CCP Drones Act. However, they’re mistaken, and the included language calls for an actual security assessment, based on cybersecurity best practices and not fear mongering about “potential threats, or what may be possible.” We are confident that an actual scientific analysis will prove what advocates like you have been saying: the drones you use each day do not pose a risk. This isn’t the Countering CCP Drones Act… it’s not even close.

We will continue to work with DAA partners and advocates like you to monitor the situation and be sure to keep you all in the loop as this continues to unfold. Thank you for all your hard work and support this year and please take a moment to pat yourself on the back, because this would not have been possible without you.

Vic, kudos to everyone and you and your hard work too. Appreciate everyone's help in keeping our hobby grounded in sanity and fact in our legislation.

May we all get the best drones at the best price the market offers, with innovation, dedication by companies and a focus on us consumers not just big pocket corporations..... and keep politicians out of making bad decisions because of lobbying by companies that don't have consumers in mind!

Well, we at least have a temporary reprieve. Pardon or not my cynicism, there's a plethora of possible ultimate outcomes still lurking in the minds of the goobers. I can example a few; They realize they were idiots and the threat fades into the darkness of gooberment, The security assessment is "fixed" and they justify a later ban, Trump goes apesit and bundles DJI into his war on China, just another turn at "kick the can" gooberment style. Who knows, but for today we fly.

While I don't share your level of cynicism, it's not without merit.

There are still fights to fight, and legislation to watch. And the DAA will definitely be keeping a very close eye on more than a few things. But for now, this is great news. If we had lost this battle, the future of this industry would have been in jeopardy.

We'll keep everyone abreast of any updates, and rally the troops if (when?) it's necessary.

The countering drones act is not in the bill, but the other stuff in there in regards to security assessments done within a years time frame does not sound good at all.To me anyway it appears they are still trying to find other methods to ban DJI and will not stop until it happens.I call it sort of a moral victory for now until a ban eventually ends up happening.

I see a realistic and fact-based security assessment as an excellent idea. If there's a serious threat found, it should be dealt with. If there's no threat found, that's a sound argument against banning foreign-made drones.

To me anyway it appears they are still trying to find other methods to ban DJI and will not stop until it happens.I call it sort of a moral victory for now until a ban eventually ends up happening.

Who is they? What evidence is there of continuing motives or efforts to enact bans?

You're diligence and persistence is greatly appreciated. It's a difficult task staying on top of the goober's activities and impossible to predict what one might do.
