I am unable to get a gps, only able to fly in atti mode. This has just happened the last couple of times I have flown up till then I had no problem getting satellites.. Any help would be appreciated.

Just a bit more info would help

1. What is the drone doing on powering up
2. What does the controller say (all telemetry)
3. History of the drone (Crashes, hard landings, drops etc...)
4. do you have other GPS drones, and how are they working

Also, what model of drone are we talking about?

Mavic Air 2 Powers up like normal, when it takes off it says atti mode Once in air everything seems normal, I was playing with the changing home point trying to use the controller as the new home points but the dot representing controller kept moving around even though I was stationary. This drone has never had any crashes it's in perfect condition, I do not have any other drones

You do need to let the drone sit while it finds the satellites. My Air 2 takes a minute or two once it is connected to find enough satellites for a safe launch.

Also GPS isn't exact. You'll find your location on a map moves around by as much as 50 feet over a typical flight.

Here's my drone hovering in my garage for 30 minutes.

wow.. The position showing the location of the controller moves around when I try to change home point location using the controller as the home point. I've let my drone sit close to 5 minutes waiting for satellites to show up

What do apps like Aloft, B4UFLY, and UAVForecast say the GPS levels are at that location? If they say there are more than 10 sats available and your drone doesn't catch them - then something is wrong.

Best thing to try is - take the drone straight up from take off point. If in ATTI - it will only go up to 98 feet and stop. You'll also be alerted by "Bitchin' Betty" as to the situation. Left it hover for a minute or two to see what happens. Also depends on what is "around" you in terms of trees, metal objects, etc that can hamper getting a sat lock.

I'm not very tech knowledgeable so I don't know if i have any of those apps I am in a very clear area when I take off so I should be able to get satellites I will try taking off and see if it goes higher than 98 feet. If it does, does that mean it in gps mode.

When you power up the drone, you should see the satellite count in the DJI Fly app start increasing, and the sat indicator changes from red to white when you have enough to set the home point. I get satellites when I power up my drone inside my house, so unless you are in a steel box, there's really no excuse to not waiting a few seconds to see satellites.

And if you can change the home point, you are seeing satellites. So at this point what you are saying isn't making any rational sense.

The controller location has nothing to do with the drone's GPS, it comes from your mobile device. So that's the thing that's unable to get a precise location if it's moving around.

Depending on the device you use as a screen - tablet or phone - you'll need to go to the "store" for that device and download one or more. Having Aloft, B4UFLY, and UAVForecast all on one device won't affect anything.

From all the jumping around on the posts - I don't think "WE" have a clear idea of exactly what your problem is. That makes it hard to help you figure out the issue. If the drone gets a GPS / sat connection enough to go above the 98 ft mark - then that is not your problem. Being in something of a wide open area is typically better for GPS reception; but not 100% - esp if the satellites overhead are not enough to meet the drone requirement or something else is going on.

As stated before - in the upper right corner of the screen will be your GPS signal connection. Upon startup - you are doing the startup in correct sequence right - and if the GPS signal is good - you will get a msg both on screen and from "Bitchin"Betty" stating "HOMEPOINT HAS BEEN SET!" That is your RTH location as well at that point. Should you move the RTH does not follow the remote controller. It WILL return to the "homepoint" location it registered unless you change it while in flight. As I typically state with RTH questions / issues - RTH is more of a failsafe, not something a drone pilot should want to use on a regular basis. Knowing how it works is very important, but did you not buy the drone to FLY IT yourself. If "I" used RTH all the time, I'd probably not be paying much attention to my drone (which is a no no under VLOS) or missing out some possibly cool scenes to shoot pics or video of on my return home. Yo0ur settings for RTH are equally important, so making sure they are set correctly can help ensure your drone returns when RTH is initiated by you or the drone due to signal loss / etc.

If you have not done so, highly encourage you to go to YouTube and watch the many basic / beginner videos of your drone type. Most have great info and will help you understand the drone better. Then progress to the advanced beginner and beyond as your skills improve.

And -- when you set the RTH when the drone is flying around, the RTH location is set to wherever the DRONE is; not where the CONTROLLER is.

Except that it retains the original launch altitude.
