I've seen them at various trails for years around here. They're intended against cars and off road vehicles.

And it's being extended to ebikes, one wheels, and escooters, depending on the locale.

Our state (California) publishes a for print document called Drone laws in California in the docs there is a listing for restrictions per local goverment maybe your state has this document while it doesn't cover every single area it will tell you if you can fly from a local park by county. The motorized vehicle signs are there to keep off-road bikes and atv's and such away from the wildlife, thats why you cannot fly a drone in a national park without a mountain of paperwork.
