Get a case, possibly a sun shade, extra batteries, another SD card. Fly it like it like you just paid $1000 for it. Once you get a little more comfortable with it and the features you can fly it like you stole it.

My suggestion would be to do a search on this forum for Mavic Crashes or Lost Mavic and read each of those threads before your first flight.
