Now legal to fly drones in Brooklyn, NYC?

I was really considering getting a DJI Spark but I recently found out drones are now legal to fly in NYC as long as they are kept under 400ft and away from the major airports. Can anyone confirm this as true? If so, I'd rather purchase a Mavic Pro for a few hundred more. Thanks!

There is enough info out on spark to know that it is no Mavic. If the money is there , Mavic is more capable no matter where you may live.
