Anyone have suggestions on the best way to neutralize/dispose of these compromised batteries?

i've heard throw them in a bucket of salt water for a couple days, then toss them in the trash. Supposedly deactivates/destroys the cells

No s**t. I have already started drilling holes all over one of my birds and I can't stop myself

The Mavic arms are overbuilt, and I've never seen one break the beam. Therefore they are too heavy!

Inside are gussets, so don't do what I did here, this was just an experiment. 2.5-3g per arm can easily be dropped.

I am no expert, but one could surmise the weight saved on the front arms would be offset by the increased drag. Maybe??

I am no expert, but one could surmise the weight saved on the front arms would be offset by the increased drag. Maybe??

I thought it would decrease drag. On the front arms they could be drilled to promote airflow through the angled top face and backwards out the rear.

Another idea would be to duct some of the rotor wash into the aircraft, eliminate the fan and block most or all of the front 'grill' to reduce drag.

Anyone thought about reversing the prop directions to improve rear lift/thrust?

Thanks! That seemed like a good run sucks you lost it. You really ran those cells down. I think the batteries may have been toast if you got them back.. something that seems odd to me is there are 0 deviations between the cells through the entire flight. Each cell is the exact same voltage.

South southwest wind One to 3 mph pretty much exact same weather we’re having here tomorrow. Which is pretty much as calm as it gets.

If I had just follow a straight path back I Probably would have made it.

I live about 7 miles outside of Washington DC, so there’s not a lot of places I can fly for distance overland

I’m about to place an order for some new Protek 3600s Already have a set of thunder Powers 4500 on the way.

Picked up a new bird from Costco’s about a hour ago[emoji851]

Just need to downgrade firmware, change some parameters open her up and wire and some new battery connectors.

That a way to get back on that horse!

Actually I did a quick test flight and measured wattage/amps in both directions and figured I should turn around at 40%. Flying on 0% with the stock battery for the first time is scary.

Don't go by percentage. Instead you should display the voltage. New batteries have a very conservative calibration. At 0 percent you can fly for a another 1 - 2 minutes if the voltage is high enough. Once you get under 3.4V the critically low battery autolanding kicks in. On older batteries you'll see that the 3.4V limit might be reached at some higher percentage like 5% while on a new battery you can fly at 0 percent for a good amount of time. Percentage is misleading. Voltage is what you care about.

Good advice, and to add to that, battery temperature. At 40c I flew the stock battery on 0%. Same battery at 12c will try to autoland at 5%. To get an idea of how your externals will run, charge them at 1.5c with a fan blowing on them. You can bet they're not going to be at optimal temperature.

You might want to backup a couple hundred yards off the shore until you figure this out
