New to Drones, have an Air 2S. Got familiar with it and reasonably confident. I work offshore and brought it with me considering to fly it around ship. Other than my employers rules, what concerns and additional should I consider?

One seasoned drone pilot suggested that if prompted to calibrate the compass NOT TO. I'm on 40,000 tons of steel surrounded by water. it will likely think its sitting at the north pole. What risks might be incurred by ignoring the compass cal?

Flying over water... Other than the risk of turning it into a submarine, is there anything else to consider?

I was in the same situation taking off from steel ship to take pictures of oil rig. I used a wooden table to get the drone 2-3 feet above the steel deck to launch and retrieve.
You can check the compass for errors as well it’s a red, yellow and green code in the app (I used Mavic pro 2) Just raise the drone away from the deck until compass turns green.
I had a fellow trained to catch it out of the air as well but because of the pitching of the deck I used my table. You could use a tarp to catch it ( like firefighters do) that was plan C.
The winds were very high over 20 kts and I had wind warnings right away and didn’t go much higher than 350 ft (rig was 475 )
Also land into the wind and watch out for rigging. Also you want to turn off Return to home if your ship is moving. I did compass calibration at sea because Mavic 2 needs to be calibrated when you move 30 miles.
Be careful and good luck ! It’s a great feeling when you get your bird back safe !
