Opinions on case I am designing....

What are you going to use to cut the foam?

Well...they cut it if you order the case...you design and order, and they use your file to cut it. May be a little more than I can make myself spend on a case right now though. I think it's like $208. But it does have what I want, which is hard to find on pre-cut cases.

That’s a pretty cool site and concept. Heard of the name before, but didn’t know what it was.
I tried looking briefly for a company that sold just the foam, but no dice.

Space under mini will fit the smart controller?

Maybe a space for a car charger, they are always a funny shape and take up unusual space. Make it not a lay flat cutout but an on edge cutout to save space. Or a lay flat with cut out space below it, for the long battery connection cables they always have.

I leave the car charger in the car. Never enough room in any of these cases.

I'm not sure of the dimensions of the smart controller, but I'm sure there is room to put a cutout under it that will work. The foam I posted is 4.5" deep so I cut the iPad mini slot .75" deep so you still have 3.5" to work with. That would leave .25" of foam in the bottom. You could send me a smart controller and I could measure it up and let you know for sure.

Plenty of room left. Love the two level design, reminds me of my GPC. CS with sunscreen attached fits in less foam depth.
One thing you might add is two thin cuts at each end of the upper layer so that you have handles for easy removal and access to the lower level.

I have so many cases now that I will probably need to get a bigger truck to cart them around. I’m liking the one the op is doing with the thought of the sc under the mini. I’ll do a little research as I’m kinda partial to the tomcase and the mccases brand. Maybe I could send one to them and have them custom cut the foam. The nanuk is a good case, but I really like the latches on the ones I use. Just what I need, another project!

Can you give me the dimensions of the sc cut out??

Those dimensions will be on the tight side which is what you would want the foam to be. The other consideration would be something on the bottom like the screws or bracket that a lot of people are using. So maybe I’ll include that idea.

You would definately have room under the iPad mini to put the smart controller. If you'd like I'll do a mockup with your measurements so you can see what it looks like.
