Hello pilots.

Bit of a different video then I usually produce. I volunteer with marine search and rescue and we were out doing some pacing drills. where we try and match speed and come alongside to transfer equipment or people
Skip to the end if you want to see the drone footage

Super interesting. We’ll done. I dunno how you get to use commercial music but that was great too.

Thanks for watching. Its up to the owner of the song to allow or deny. In this case im allowed to use the song but i cant monetize the video. And since i dont make any money on youtube its no big deal

Is there any way to know ahead of time? I have tried using commercial video only to result in warnings that I could have my account disabled…

They let you know when you upload the video. Usually I use epidemic sound for my videos.

Here is what youtube said on this one
"The Content ID claim on your video doesn't affect your channel. This is not a copyright strike."

Cool…but what if it IS a copyright strike….as I have had happen just once so I never did it again….

very cool! used to do this with VISAR in the BVI's. This was a very frequently used skill as we were the primary responders to any EMS or other emergency on the water. Hardest part is to get the helm to stick the hull and add some power to stay put, and then learn to peel off cleanly. Learned the hard way to NOT use cable stays as hand grips for climbing aboard....

Great video, of important operations. The drone segments smooth and easy to watch. In addition to music, I would also enjoy listening to the folks talk about their equipment and what they do. Do they also employ drones for rescue?

Hey thanks for your input. I am just in the process of setting up a youtube channel for our rescue station. I think one of the videos that i will be producing will be something about the guys talking about our equipment and boats. We do not have a drone yet but were looking into one for our unit

Thanks for watching. it was my first time trying that manoeuvre as well. We all got soaked but had a blast

You’re welcome of course. As a 14 year nationally registered EMT here in the USA (retired), I am always intrigued with SAR advances. Life is precious. So yes, I would subscribe to your upcoming YouTube channel. Do let me know when you get it going, and I hope your outfit gets a rescue drone one day. Blackomega would fly it n’est pas?

Yes i will be one of the pilots. Were not going to let just anyone fly it. Landing on a boat is not easy

Very cool and nice work. Just wondering, why not just slow down and transfer anything you need to instead of increasing the danger?

Good to practice at all speeds. in fact on a bumpy seas its actually safer to do transfers at speeds. Both boats are in sync

Nice work flying from a moving object. I presume that's you in the larger boat (can see what looks like someone holding a controller at 3:03)?

How did you get on with matching the drone and boat speeds, and did you get the boat to stop/slow down for takeoff and landing?

I occasionally go sailing and would love to get some drone footage of the boat, but am very nervous of bringing the drone back in to land on the boat. A sailing boat is maybe a bit trickier as there's a lot of drone traps (ie rigging and sails) up in the air, and the boat is usually far from level.

I was on both boats. I’m an active member with the rescue station but i was in the bigger boat during the drone part.

Launch and recover was done at a full stop. Our bigger boat is twin jet drive. And we put it in neutral buckets with propulsion going front and back at the same time. That keeps it more or less in the same position. It’s not easy taking off and landing from a boat. I have crashed before trying that.

As for the sailboat. One of our members has don’t it successfully but ended up with a minor cut on his finger lol.

I once had to intentionally crash into myself to pull off a landing on a boat
