We just released PanoVolo 1.9.0 - panorama stitching software. New features:

DNG File Format Support: Panoramas can now be saved as linear DNG files. DNG is an open, lossless compressed image format developed by Adobe. PanoVolo now supports saving panoramas as DNG files in addition to stitching panoramas from DNG files, which was available before. Saving panoramas to DNG format unlocks the full range of editing controls in Adobe products such as CameraRaw and LightRoom as well as other image editing software that supports linear DNG files. Note: selecting “Auto” in batch mode will now save DNG panoramas when stitching is done from either DNG or TIFF files, and JPEG files when panoramas are stitched from JPEG files.

New Image Alignment Optimizer: The new optimizer is about 200x faster and more accurate at adjusting individual image positions within a panorama. In practice, 70 mm drone panoramas are now stitched ~2x faster and with higher overall image alignment quality.

As always, this version is a free upgrade for the current users.

Its nice to see competition in the field. PTGui was my the go to S/W for many years and it is still brilliant. Its very robust an can create an interactive 360 deg website, absolutely brilliant. But in the last couple of years its been hard to beat Lightroom. It quickly merges HDR (equal groups only) and pano raw photographs into a DNG image, the attached was taken before sunrise when the foreground was very dark except for the lights and the sunrise was already quite bright. The attached was taken recently, it is 40 photographs (5xHDRx8views) but on the same occasion, I also did 60 photographs and Lightroom merged them all remarkably quickly and without any flaws. The drone was a Mavic 3 Classic, I took multiple sets of HDR panos and the drone remained within less than 1 ft in all directions for 20 mins. I was even able to merge groups of photographs from one pano set with groups from another set in LR.

Lightroom struggles with 360 panos so I have a bunch of folders of shots I need to try to stitch again.
