Spot on 2km but I was watching the clock I get a wave, thumbs up, etc on loads of occasions.
You are also right about Ausis, they think it is cool and are friendly.

Lol, a good guess then.
I did a similar thing flying the length of a 3km long iron ore train once in the Pilbara.
Flying down that beast it was pretty easy to all of a sudden be a km away.
Think it's the only time I have flown BVLOS, never felt too guilty about it, so remote, no aircraft about (so far outback) and especially at 0530.
