Pixel count JPG vs DNG?

In spite of being a much larger file the pixel count reported in "Properties" of the DNG is only 960 x 640 as opposed to the JPG being 5472 x 3648.

It is almost like the DNG is a thumbnail instead of the full size file.

Yet LR6 shows the pixel count to be 5472 x 3648

What am I missing?

The DNG file is not a thumbnail ..... but it contains an embedded jpg thumbnail for previewing.
That's what you are looking at.
