I purchased a mavic air 2 from mpb for a very good price, listed as cosmetic damage, when I got it I switched it on and noticed the gimbal wasn’t sturdy, after inspection the gimbal does a start up sequence but fails to do a yaw motor test and then does a little vibration and comes on, the camera works fine but the gimbal is unresponsive and uncontrollable, I have changed the smaller ribbon cable to which it burn out 1 stand when turning the drone on, I have also noticed water damage, so cleaned that new cable and burnt out again, changed the other main gimbal cable and smaller cable and same result, 1 strand from the smaller flat ribbon cable immediately burns out when powering on the drone but the camera still works, mpb said I can send it back and pay another 200 for another one but it took me so long to save fo ethics one I can’t afford that, any help would be very appreciated.

My thoughts would be the water damage will be a battle that will be hard fought.
Several components in that system that you have very limited testing ability to determine what is truly at fault.

Thank you for you r reply, I have taken it apart completely and cleaned everything with contact cleaner, nothing looks burnt or shorted out, I wish I could upload videos so you could see what I mean, I believe it is a faulty yaw motor, but I’m not sure how they come out from th grim so it’s self it seems they are glued in

"I purchased a mavic air 2 from mpb" Is this a company?
"changed the smaller ribbon cable to which it burn out" Did you buy this cable?
That picture I do see water clues.

Water damage to me is knowing when happened and what kind of water.

BTW..

Hi rod thank you for you reply, yes mpb is a online company specialising in camera equipments, they didn’t mention about the water damage or gimbal problem but when I contacted them they did say they could refund me or if I paid a further £200 they would send me a new condition one out, but I can’t afford that in all honesty, but this one was listed as cosmetic damage only,
They didn’t mention anything about the water damage so I’m not sure what kind of water it has come into contact with, I’ve changed the smaller ribbon cable 3 times now, and the longer main gimbal cable still no luck :(

You should have reported this to MPB and returned it, but now you have attempted a repair the warranty is void

If they will refund you DO THAT. Water damage is a can of worms that you can possibly never sort out. Gimbal issues are the one thing that is the most difficult to get repaired by anyone other than DJI. I found that out twice, once with an old Mavic and again with a Mavic 2 PRO.

I wasted money with a few advertised companies on here that offered repairs. In reality they all wanted to just replace the camera and gimbal, when it was just one motor that had burned out on the gimbal mechanism.

Only one guy said he could do it, charged me about $150 plus shipping costs, tried three times and failed to fix it. He promised to refund me but never did, so I would not ever suggest using him, he was in Virginia or West Virginia and advertised on here.

In the end I sent it to DJI and they just gave me a new one and charged $350 total with free shipping, instead of repairing it. So, I would strongly suggest don't pay for gimbal work, just get your money back and then buy a refurbished model from DJI, when you can afford it.
