Problem with the Sd of the RC controller.

What you may find on the storage in the screen device (in your case, the complete RC) is "cache files" ... this is low resolution versions of your recordings, it's mainly saved copies of what the live screen in the app showed including all possible live screen interference's you might have had there.

The "cache when recording" functionality can be turned on/off from within the app ... here:

I know that the older DJI app ... the GO4, cached both photos & videos but I'm not sure the DJI Fly app does that, the text in the app suggests that it's during "recording" ... videoing only?

As these cache files are low res, they aren't particular useful ... the full res. videos & photos are only stored in the SD card in the drone. You can through the DJI Fly album transfer pics and videos to your screen device but that require that you need to have the drone powered & connected to the RC during the whole transfer, better to pull the drone card & use a card reader in your computer.
