Depends on your Drone model for example a Matrice 300 thermal cam will cost 10,000 to replace.

I am on my fifth replacement of the Mavic 2 EA but the last one I received was in January of 2024.
In my 4 replacement cases (3 under Care/Warranty and 1 under a maintenance repair), the drone was replaced not the camera.
In my last case I sent in the drone for Basic Maintenance and they found superficial scratches on the back housing of the gimbal. They replaced the whole drone for $171.00 along with a new Smart Controller.

Your results may vary, but DJI Service has never let me down. This probably all changed in the US with the supply issues DJI is facing. They have suspended Care and their valuable Maintenance Program. But you not being in the US should be a better current experience.

The first one was perfect. Until I inadvertantly looked at the sun too long. The flag/shutter burned out, I guess from opening and closing too much, too long.

DJI sent me a replacement under Care. It had spots in the thermal sensor viewing that would not clear even with FFC.

DJI sent me another replacement that had the same exact problem, spots in the thermal sensor when viewing.

DJI sent me another replacement and this one was good. I sent this one in after one year for Basic Maintenance and they deemed it needed repair since there was superficial rub marks on the camera housing. They charged me $139 and sent a new drone.

The one I have now is currently in service and going strong. It is a great thermal drone, but the biggest problem with it is it takes soooooo long to take images to create a thermal orthomap. The Mavic 3T and Matrice 4T can write images so much faster and can do the same in a fraction of the time.

Why does it take so long? Is it because of the low resolution of the thermal camera?

No, the Advanced has the same resolution as the M30T, M3T and H20T at 640 x 512.
The drone just has a slow write speed, so it takes longer to save each image.

The thermal otherwise is a great sensor, on par with the 3 listed above.

No. This isn't really a problem unless you are making thermal orthomosoaic maps and following the GSD from something like Raptor Maps. The thermal on this drone is still a great tool and produces great thermal images. You can perform some basic thermography in DJI Thermal Tool. But if your goal is to make thermal ortho maps, with the GSD required by Raptor Maps for Standard or Comprehensive, a Mavic 3T or Matrice 4T would be the better choice and off course the H30T if you really have some coin.
