Saw your question but forgot to reply until now. Sorry. You could do the effect in Photoshop, but I did these photos in Instagram. Pros to Insta: easy to use and can do it on my phone. Neg: Crappy image resolution and heavy/overdone effects if you aren't careful.

Sidenote: You can also do this effect on video with Adobe Premiere. Here's my practice vid I made last year. Some shots are nice, and some are crappy.
