Took my MPP out on Sunday for a little fun. Got a warning that the cache was full but before I could look at it completely, the warning went away. My question is what is the cache on the drone itself used for? I thought it was for flight data but I was only flying for about 10 minutes at that time.

I would need to know the exact message you saw, but it was not any sort of cache on the drone itself. You have most likely enabled "caching of video" to your mobile device. For any video you record while in flight, a low resolution version is then stored on your device. The amount of storage for that cache video is limited and cycles as it gets filled.

You do not mention what drone model you are referring to. ( edited - I see now you are talking about the Mavic Platinum) On Mavic 2 using the DJI Go 4 app, the default cache size is 2GB, but you can increase that if you want (assuming you have the room on your phone/tablet). Also, there is a setting that allows you to delete the cache if it fills up. If you have that off, then it will stop caching the low res video when it fills up. If you have it turned on, I 'think' it keeps recording. I think it is first in, first out, so you would have the last 2GB of footage available (as opposed to a full delete of all past cache video). I am not 100% sure on the 1st in - 1st out comment however.
