Lost another drone

I did! Did you read my new post? I lost my other one. A mini 3 pro. I guess I hadn't posted that when you commented.
Apparently as often as you loose drones, 1 back up is insufficient. You probably need 3 or 4. Possibly you could get a discount on Amazon with a subscription and autoship once very few months. I do that with my boat supplies.

Well, I hope I don't need more than 2. Most of my trips I haven't lost a drone. But I do want to take 2 mavic 3 pro's on my next trip. I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, but I'm not familiar with a subscription. I prefer to get my replacements from China. When I buy from Amazon, I have to pay a lot in duties and shipping.

Darwin Award winner here for sure.

If anyone ever doubts why drones are so widely hated, why the regulations and restrictions keep piling up, and why folks feel drones need to be outlawed, just read this thread. We are doomed.

Yeah..I wasn't going to say anything but now that you have...

OP was also talking about filming some random kids with his drone which is downright weird/creepy.

Just today, I also read a post on a DJI group Facebook page where someone was bragging about using their drone to " mess with people ". In this case it looked like some cops the guy was messing with.

All I wanna do is sit in my backyard and fly over the forested area behind my house but these nitwits are going to make it impossible to do even that.

Most are not going to understand/agree with a value/priority hierarchy that accepts these risks and losses because of the value of the media. This is a very personal, individual thing, with lots of variables like financial wherewithal. Elon can play games with Mavic 4 Pros all day long and lose them constantly without caring at all.

I get it.

But then, I have the "risk gene". The danger I've put my own life and limb in over the years would have many of you shaking your heads. I will say, though, always with exceedingly thorough safety analysis and understanding, and great care. I've never been reckless hang gliding, technical diving, single-track mountain biking, or any of the other thrill activities I've done. Alas, at 63 those thrills are just precious memories now.

Still, the point is, I get it.

So, how to do this better? I'd suggest getting a Neo FPV setup, and develop solid skills flying it FPV. Then, at a mere $200 US a pop, you can get some extra Neos as backup. This is about as close as you can get to a quality, reliable "disposable drone" for the kind of shots you want to capture. For the cost of the last 2 drones you lost you could have had FPV and 4 or 5 neos.

And then when you lose one, it's $200 to replace it.

These are the sort of creeps that are giving the hobby a bad name.

Trying to capture unique, epic video of waves breaking is hardly in the same category.

I don't think you understood correctly.

The OP of this thread, the guy who keeps losing drones, stated in this thread or one of the other threads he created that near the end of one of his flights he was trying to record some random kids he saw that were playing.

He's got like 2-3 different threads going on now so I am not sure which one I saw it in, but it was most certainly the same person who created this particular thread, so he is doing more than trying to capture " unique, epic waves ".
