Question about using iPhone without SIM card

I've practiced with Mavic and controller and am adding iPhone 6. The iPhone came to me without SIM card . I have added DJI Go 4 app to phone. I would like to use it to view what camera sees, calibrate compass, set home point . Tried today at park and got need network message.

I have an older iPhone that I can decommission and switch to newer 6.

I use an iPad mini with no SIM card and have never had an issue.
Try putting your phone on airplane mode.

The need more network message is because it’s trying to download maps but can’t without a network. You can use your older iPhone as a hotspot if you’d like to use both phones.

You can even get a paper clip and remove the SIM card from your older phone and pop it into the newer one when you are flying. The SIM cards should be plug n play.
