Range in medium/large Urban areas?

Hi wondering what everybody's rules like I also have a hubsan h501s and live in Central Tucson. I've flown my Hubsan which has an advertised range of 300-600m dependant on conditions and I took her out on a few occasions 1500m+ with the furthest being 1849m which is 6066ft. The Mavic Pro has an advertised range of 7km and the furthest I've gotten my Mavic Pro at a park was 6100ft which is like 1.9k. I just don't understand how something with a much larger advertised range approx 10-15x more only be getting a couple hundred feet further?
