I just took delivery of an M2 and noticed the RC battery discharged very rapidly in use, more than twice the rate of my previous MP. It appears from the charge icon on the phone that the RC is charging my phone, hence the extreme drain on the RC battery. I've looked everywhere for an option in the app to turn off this charging feature through USB but can't find one. Has anyone got a solution? I searched this forum and couldn't find any articles on it, so I'm wondering if this is something new. Maybe if I use the lower USB port instead of the left side port, that might stop the RC from charging the phone.

It's not new and has been an issue for some time now. Using the lower USB port has allegedly worked for some people but I haven't tried myself yet. I'm hoping DJI will fix it.

If you have an android device it will charge your device. No know way to stop it short of modifying the USB cable.

Thanks for the confirmation, I hadn't see those reports. With my previous MP I used the bottom USB port with an iPad Mini2. That arrangement didn't charge my iPad, so I'm thinking all I have to do is change ports. I really don't plan to continue using my Android phone anyway, it was temporary for test purposes. I only used this LG-G5 phone because it was available, an extra I had with no phone service which had been dedicated to my OSMO PLUS. I believe Santa is bringing me a new iPad for Christmas. I've already bought a handy dandy iPad holder adapter to fit the M2 RC, so this should be a short term problem.

The RC can only produce 500mA max on the USB port. That shouldn't drain the RC that drastically. Having your device fully charged will minimize the impact.

With the M1 iOS doesn't charge, Android always charges. With the M2 for iOS you can choose whether it charges or not, but Android again always charges.
