Wish there was a way to put up polls here.

So where do Mavicpilots members fall between these two controllers?

People seem to prefer the RC2 and controllers with screens in general, less hassle with cords.

But are there other functional differences, like better radio performance on one controller or the other because of better antennas?

Do people find that the RC2 being bigger and heavier is an impediment? Sure with a phone, the phone and RC-N3 combo may be heavier but you're always going to have your phone with you anyways.

Bottom line, spend the additional $200 for the FMC, either $1399 for the RC-N3 or the FMC with the RC2 for $1599?

I bought the Smart Controller for my Maic 2 Pro and I have never regretted it. Phone and ipad use, you have an over heating problem plus the screens are not as bright because as they warm up they reduce the NITS to protect themselves. You won't have either problem using a smart controller with built in screen.

The other issue is having all the cables with a phone set up and having to worry about keeping 3 things fully charged before going flying. I'd go with the built-in screen controller.

I also use my Ipad so I simply use the unscreened controllers.

I use the RC-N3 with my MA2 only, using my iPad 5 which is awesome along with a reinforced mount and the Hoodman Aviator HAV1E for those cloudless days of full sunshine.
Granted 90% of the time I use the bottom half only, it depends on the conditions and yes it does take more effort and time to use this setup as well as the weight. Using the RC-2 I have a plastic screen cover that closes and protects the screen while the installed adapters with a lanyard provides an effortless way to setup the landing pad and drone handsfree without setting the RC-2 on the ground. Much less equipment to setup and carry, again it depends on what I'm trying to do at the time.
P.S. I'm honored to respond to the World's oldest living man..;)
