Wish there was a way to put up polls here.

So where do Mavicpilots members fall between these two controllers?

People seem to prefer the RC2 and controllers with screens in general, less hassle with cords.

But are there other functional differences, like better radio performance on one controller or the other because of better antennas?

Do people find that the RC2 being bigger and heavier is an impediment? Sure with a phone, the phone and RC-N3 combo may be heavier but you're always going to have your phone with you anyways.

Bottom line, spend the additional $200 for the FMC, either $1399 for the RC-N3 or the FMC with the RC2 for $1599?

I bought the Smart Controller for my Maic 2 Pro and I have never regretted it. Phone and ipad use, you have an over heating problem plus the screens are not as bright because as they warm up they reduce the NITS to protect themselves. You won't have either problem using a smart controller with built in screen.

The other issue is having all the cables with a phone set up and having to worry about keeping 3 things fully charged before going flying. I'd go with the built-in screen controller.

I also use my Ipad so I simply use the unscreened controllers.

I use the RC-N3 with my MA2 only, using my iPad 5 which is awesome along with a reinforced mount and the Hoodman Aviator HAV1E for those cloudless days of full sunshine.
Granted 90% of the time I use the bottom half only, it depends on the conditions and yes it does take more effort and time to use this setup as well as the weight. Using the RC-2 I have a plastic screen cover that closes and protects the screen while the installed adapters with a lanyard provides an effortless way to setup the landing pad and drone handsfree without setting the RC-2 on the ground. Much less equipment to setup and carry, again it depends on what I'm trying to do at the time.
P.S. I'm honored to respond to the World's oldest living man..;)

Prefer the RC2, 1 less thing to carry around and keep charged up.

In my case I’d have my phone and probably a large iPad with me. Regardless of which controller.

So maybe the RC-N3 being smaller than the RC-2 means you have less bulk and weight.

I use both regularly, they both have a place :)
When I travel to a flying location I take the RC2 for the simplicity and reliability, but I use the N3 with a 12.9" iPad when flying from home because the big screen is awesome! I can't comment on the range comparison, the RC2 seems to have more than enough (even when I have forgotten to unfold the antennae). I am tempted to buy/make a hood for the iPad and a tripod mount because the extra detail that you can see over the RC2 is amazing.

Exactly why I purchased the Hoodman Aviator HAV1E. Yes it's big and bulky but with a neck lanyard and reinforced mount it works perfect with my iPad mini. It does make a huge difference in the viewing of details no matter how bright it is.

What is the resolution that Occusync 4 is transmitting at?

Is it greater than the resolution of the RC-2 display?

So maybe if you use an RC-N3 with a device which has a greater resolution display, you see more, not just higher resolution but maybe more field of view?

Drones transmit Video at lower resolutions. The Video stored on the onboard SD card will always be the higher resolution.

I only brought it up because one posted that he saw more detail with his big iPad instead of the RC2 screen.

Yes I don't expect 4K video being transmitted.

I use the RC2 with Lykus lanyard.

Of course the larger screen that can be used on the RC-N means everything looks bigger but more to carry around.

I do like the fact that the RC2 has DJI Fly built in, no need to be distracted with the phone

Sorry, more detail was probably the wrong thing to say. More that the larger size allows one to SEE whatever detail is there far more easily :)
