If you want to discharge it then turn it on and let it sit until the battery level is where you want it.

No. It will slowly lose its charge over time though.

Very slowly. I have missed some batteries on occasion when discharging rc plane batteries when I quit outdoor flying for the winter and have found them to be at 4.00 / 4.05 per cell in the spring which is higher voltage than you should store them at. Best to turn on the unit and let it discharge to 50/60%. Same for goggles.
