Remote controller charging problem

Received Mavic Air yesterday. Drone battery charges perfectly but I cannot get the controller to charge. I notice that the little adaptor plug can be connected to the main charging cord either way. Is one way correct or it doesn't make a difference. Should any lights on the controller be on during charging, mine are not, Bob

@bob1393 , are you attempting to charge through the correct port (micro USB on upper left side of controller as noted in user manual and quick start guide)? Here is a snippet from quick start that should guide you. Hope this helps:
