There is absolutely no way to restore an optically viable surface on a damaged lens coating. It's a complete waste of time even trying.

Sar is correct this time. The surface has a proportional surface. example: it may be a flat surface the has a convex of a .01 micro to center of lens. Concave, I doubt that. The edge starts of at .000 then the polisher ramps up to what ever .micro tolerance that's call for that particular lens. SO, Try using a dremel to polish that to lens spec...
