I got my 107 certificate in 2018, and understand I need to re-test in two years. Is the re-test different than what I already took? Where would I take this re-test?
40 questions rather than 60. No weather or flight performance questions. Lot's or sectionals, regulations (including Part 48) and safety. You can take it at the same place as the initial test, and it's another $150.

The FAA just published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) where they plan to change the recurrent testing requirement. If they end up adopting the new rule, we won't have to pay a testing center $150 every 2 years, and instead there just will be an online training module to keep current. Hopefully this change goes "live" before my 107 expires in 2020.
