Return to Home button on RC

Does the RTH button only work when no smartphone is plugged in?
First flight today and tried pressing it and it beeped but nothing happened, whereas using the RTH function in DJI Go worked absolutely fine.

It should work either way.

Per the Mavic manual:

Works fine, but as mentioned you need to hold it for a second or so.

Mine works like a charm... press and hold it for a second don't tap it.

Mine also just beeps and doesn't do anything.....when I don't hold the button down like I'm supposed to

duh.. yes it's press and hold. Need to re-re-read the manual.
