Hey guys! Im Fernando from Argentina, and recently i crashed my mavic mini 2

It is 100% completed destroyed. But it turns on, connects with controller/phone and show live video feed/record.

I have intermediate electronics/arduino/raspberry knowledge and would like to know if anyone has any ideas to reuse the camera(Without Gimbal) outside the drone, just to record stuff. Maybe save into an SD card or stream a live feed...

Has anyone done that? Or any directions to follow?

Thanks!!!

I would be interested to know if the wires coming from the camera are as simple as POS, NEG and VIDEO OUT?

If the gimbal was still good I'd try to use it like an OSMO as a sport/action camera!

1- There are +20 cables (see in image below, those small, very thin dark cables )

2- My goal is to use this camera in a helmet, just like an action camera. But the gimbal is not working :(

To be honest, I’m thinking that dji cameras probably weren’t made to make steady footage without the gimbal so the resulting video would likely be super jerky.

Don't forget about the ribbon cable, it performs some function but I do not have a clue as to what that function is.

I saw in another thread that it might be the cause of the gimbal not working. That might be its function but I'm not sure.

I have a crashed mini that had a torn ribbon cable, it was bought as "for parts". Replacing the ribbon cable has not fixed the problem but the cable was second hand extracted from shell so I do not know for certain that the cable is 'good'
The camera works and the gimbal does the dance at the start but after that the gimbal does not function i.e. I get an FPV view for roll, pitch and, I think, yaw.
I have yet to dismantle the actual gimbal to see if anything leads from whatever-the-ribbon-cable-connects-to into the remainder of the gimbal.
Having just typed the last sentence I have just realised I may be able to see what connections there are, if any, in a youtube video. :)

The ribbon cable controls the gimbal. It isn't necessary for the camera to work! Since my gimbal bracket broke, i just disconnected this cable

Yes, it is probably true. Had not thought of that....

I was trying to connect, not for the sake of having a new action cam, but for the sake of just doing it.

thanks!!!

No problem! Still a good idea though, I'm sure what you learn will be of use to somebody!

I was asked to shoot a video of a pool party for the Cast & Crew of the MTV series 'The Hills' in Beverly Hills (yes, I'm licensed part 107).
I didn't want to walk back to my van for my Osmo, so I just folded my Mavic Pro and carried it around as a hand-held.

Wow! What a nice video!

I don't think it is reasonable to glue my mavic to my helmet and carry the controller in my e-scooter... But thanks for your comment!
