Has anyone had an event involving RID ? Meaning has anyone been busted, harassed or in any other way had a problem that was caused because they detected you from RID ?

You can go to any major city in Spain and get busted by Aeroscope/RID in no time.

Karen wise, they usually get to you when they hear/see the drone and see you nearby.

As a photographer I was already used to having encounters by just using a tripod instead of hand helding my camera (for whatever reason the tripod was a magnet of idiots), but with a drone that can fly comfortably at 1-2 Km range if you get busted is because you want, even with RID/Aeroscope, just hit&run.

People with iPhones will not be able to detect the RID transmission from your DJI drone due to limitations in iOS.

Those using Android phones might be able to detect you if they are close enough, but they are more likely to see/hear the drone instead of detect it through the app.

Entities allowed to use AeroScope or other drone detection will function with or without RID being active. To be honest RID is a complete farce. It does not do what it is supposed to have done. If it was implemented where other drones and aircraft could get real-time positional data for avoidance purposes it would be a usable system.

I respectfully submit that Remote ID does exactly what it is supposed to do. If you fly a drone with remote ID then you consent to be tracked and identified by whoever can pick up the signal. State and federal laws restricting electronic wiretapping and eavesdropping and the privacy protections of the Fourth Amendment go bye, bye, bye.

I will definitely concede that point @Chip!

Using a third party module mounted on top of my Yuneec Typhoon H the Bluetooth RID signal pretty much disappears after getting 100’AGL. The copper foil that protects the GPS unit from the internal electronics reflects the signal upwards making it virtually invisible to RID apps.

okay, but then here is what need you to do. Take the $899.00 that is burning a hole in your pocket and buy one of these bad boys which claims up to three mile remote ID tracking. Its the same one that Ken Heron recently tested and it seemed to work pretty well. But, he did not test a Yuneec Typhoon H with the gold foil! (I always liked the look of the Typhoon but never flew one).

The Dronetag RIDER is a compact remote ID receiver that can determine a pilot's location. The RIDER visualizes the drone and pilot location in real time on the Dronetag APP. This pocket-sized unit as an integrated buzzer and LEDs to indicate a drone has been detected. The RIDER has three choices for real-time data sharing; via integrated LTE, Bluetooth, or USB-C, allowing for online or offline data transfer.

Personally I like the way my HolyStone RID module works. It complies with the regulations, but can only be tracked within 100 yards max from the ground by mounting it on top. I would assume anything above it would have no issues at all receiving the broadcast.
