I wonder how many other pilots have fallen into the same trap as me?
Several times I've pressed the "power on" button on the Mavic Pro before I've removed the gimbal clamp: not recommended and could precipitate a serious electro-mechanical failure.
I know I'm getting senile but, eventually I remembered my military pilot's training. No way do you ever start any aircraft system if there's a red pennant dangling in the breeze!
So, a simple mod to the gimbal cover (I have the all-in-one cover and lock) solves the problem:-
This would work equally well with the standard gimbal lock. It's just a bit of ribbon attached to the lock with a spot of instant glue. At the far end I use a dab of blu-tack to hold it in place.
Haven't cocked it up since I made this simple mod!
